A: The forecast uses barometric pressure trends and is typically 70-80% accurate for 12-24 hours ahead. Accuracy improves after the station learns local patterns (allow 2 weeks). It's most accurate for predicting rain/storms via pressure drops.
A: No! The YC9389 is completely standalone with wireless RF technology. The MSF clock signal is a radio signal (not internet), and the 868 MHz sensor communication requires no WiFi. This makes it perfect for remote locations.
A: Yes, the 868 MHz signal penetrates most building materials. However, metal structures, thick stone walls, or multiple walls may reduce range. The 150m specification is line-of-sight; expect 50-100m through typical house walls.
A: Simply insert batteries and wait. The clock automatically searches for the UK MSF signal (transmitted from Anthorn, Cumbria). Best reception is at night. If signal is weak, manually set time and the station will still auto-adjust for DST.
A: Console: 6-12 months (depending on usage). Outdoor sensor: 12-18 months. We recommend quality alkaline batteries. Battery life reduces in extreme temperatures (below -10°C). Low battery indicators alert you when replacement needed.
A: Yes! The YC1137 sensor is designed for permanent outdoor installation in all UK weather conditions including rain, snow, frost, and wind. However, the battery compartment must be properly sealed after battery changes.
A: Yes, but ensure the shed is at least 10 meters from your house and other obstructions. Shed roofs can absorb/radiate heat affecting temperature readings. A standalone pole mount 2-3m high in an open area gives most accurate readings.
A: Absolute pressure is what the sensor actually measures. Relative pressure is adjusted to sea level for weather forecasting and comparison with official stations. Use relative pressure for forecast accuracy.
