This 20cm (8 inch) radio controlled wall clock has a silver aluminium frame, a clear glass lens and a bold classic dial with black numbers and hands on white. It is the official UK & Ireland MSF version, so it sets itself from the UK atomic time signal and changes automatically for spring and autumn, with nothing to adjust by hand.
Europe uses two radio time signals. MSF is used in the UK and Ireland and is transmitted from Cumbria, while the rest of Europe uses DCF77, transmitted from Mainflingen in Germany. This MSF radio controlled clock is built for the UK and Ireland signal. It picks up the signal from Cumbria, sets itself and keeps the time accurate, with automatic time checks and the spring and autumn change handled for you.
As a self setting wall clock it is always receiving the MSF UK atomic clock timing signal, a 60 kHz time and date code broadcast from Cumbria by the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), the UK's home of measurement and national timekeeping. The signal is controlled by atomic clocks at the transmitter and kept in step with the national time maintained at the NPL laboratory in London, with a quoted accuracy of 1 second in 10 million years. Reception can vary from room to room, and a new clock may take a few minutes to find the signal.
The sturdy circular frame looks good on any wall, and the hook on the back lets you mount it without any extra fittings.
