In Europe, there are two signal types used for accurate timekeeping.

The MSF signal is utilized in the UK and Ireland, with transmitters located in Cumbria (UK). This signal provides a precise and reliable source of UK civil time. For the rest of Europe, the DCF-77 signal is employed, with transmitters situated in Mainflingen, approximately 25km southeast of Frankfurt (Germany). DCF77 is a German longwave time signal and standard frequency radio station, carrying an amplitude-modulated, pulse-width coded 1 bit/s data signal.

The Youshiko Weather Station operates on the MSF signal, ensuring automatic time adjustments for spring and autumn. It offers a choice between 12-hour and 24-hour time formats. The radio-controlled clock synchronizes with the Cumbria - UK transmitter, delivering precise time without any manual intervention required.
